Privacy Policy · Cartographer for Minecraft
Version 1.0 · Effective September 2, 2026
This policy covers the Cartographer for Minecraft Android application (the "App") and the free Cartographer Minecraft mod (the "Mod") that the App reads from, both published by Loxley Labs, LLC, a Colorado limited liability company. Questions and requests: support@loxleylabs.net. The loxleylabs.net website has its own privacy policy; this document is the authoritative policy for the App and the Mod.
1. What we collect: nothing
The App has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that profile you or report your activity. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data, and we run no server that receives it.
We do not know your world seed, your coordinates, your base, how long you play, or that you use the App at all. This is not a promise about how we behave. There is no code in the App that could send those things anywhere, so we could not hand them over if we were asked.
2. What stays on your device
So that the map still means something when you close it, the App saves the following in its own private storage on your phone:
- the terrain it has drawn, so you can pan back over ground you have already seen,
- which places you have laid eyes on, which is what fog of war is drawn from,
- waypoints you mark yourself, with their names and coordinates,
- your settings, including which structure types and which reveal options you have switched on, and
- the address of the last PC it connected to, so it can find it again.
These records are kept separately for each world seed and each dimension, they are readable only by the App, and uninstalling the App deletes all of them. Nothing in this list is ever uploaded.
3. When data leaves your device: only to your own PC
The App holds the Android INTERNET permission, which Android requires for any network access at
all, including access that never leaves your house. The App uses it for exactly one purpose: talking to the
Mod running on your own computer, on your own local network.
Finding that computer works by asking. The App tries addresses on the local network your phone is already
joined to, on port 25585, until the Mod answers. It does not scan the internet, it cannot see
outside your network, and it stops as soon as it finds the Mod. You can also skip the search entirely by
pointing your camera at the pairing code the Mod shows, or by typing the address yourself.
Once connected, the App asks the Mod about the world you are standing in and the Mod answers. Both ends of that conversation are machines you own, sitting on your own wifi. No Loxley server takes part, and there is nowhere in that exchange where your data passes through us.
4. What the Mod exposes on your network
Be aware of this one before you install: to let your phone reach it, the Mod listens on port
25585 on the machine running Minecraft and answers requests from your local network. It does not
require a password.
On a home network, where the only devices are yours and your family's, that is what makes the App work with nothing to configure. On a network you do not control, such as school, dorm, hotel, or public wifi, it means another person on that same network who knows what to look for could ask the Mod where you are in your world and what is around you. If you play on a network you do not control, close Minecraft or remove the Mod when you are done.
The Mod only reads. It answers questions about the world and never changes it, and it does not read anything on your computer other than the Minecraft world you have open. It writes no files and sends nothing outward on its own.
5. Android permissions the App uses
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
INTERNET | To open a connection to the Mod on your own PC. It is the only permission the App declares, and it is used for nothing else. |
The App asks for no location, no camera, no microphone, no contacts, no files, no storage, and no identifiers. It does not use an advertising ID, and it does not use Google Play Services, so it runs on de-Googled Android without any part of it going missing.
6. Purchases
If you bought the App on Google Play, Google handles the payment and tells us only that a purchase happened. We never see your card details. If you bought it from loxleylabs.net, the payment is handled by our payment provider and the same is true; what our site keeps is described in the website privacy policy. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription, and no advertising in the App.
7. Links that leave the App
The setup screen has one button that opens loxleylabs.net/apps/cartographer in your browser, so you can download the Mod. That is the only link out of the App, and nothing about you is attached to it.
8. Children
The App is intended for people aged 13 and over. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age, which means there is nothing for us to hold, disclose, or delete on a child's behalf, and no profile is built about any user. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 because we do not collect personal information from anybody.
9. Your rights
Rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data all depend on a company holding data about you. We hold none. Every record the App creates is on your own phone and under your control: clear it from Android's app settings, or uninstall the App and it is gone. If you would like this confirmed in writing for your own records, write to support@loxleylabs.net and we will say so.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the version number and effective date at the top change with it and the change is listed in the changelog below. A change that would let the App collect or transmit anything about you would be a change of direction for this product, not a detail; it would be announced on the product page and in the App before it took effect, not slipped into a revision.
